FAQs

Q: Is the pottery food, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe:

A: Yes, all my pottery is completely food safe, lead free and can be used in the microwave, dishwasher and oven. Handwashing is gentler on pottery and helps it maintain its shine.

The only exception to this is our pieces that are finished in decorative gold, platinum or bronze. These are real metals and therefore cannot be placed in the microwave. I encourage you to hand wash these pisces to avoid any dishwasher tarnishing to the finish that could occur over time.

Q: Why does it take 4-6 weeks between my pre-order and when it is shipped?

A: Making high quality pottery is a lengthy multistage process; throwing, trimming, drying, the first kiln (bisque) firing, pre-glaze preparation, the glazing itself, the 2nd (glaze) kiln firing, sanding and sometimes more. All these steps are done with care, to ensure your order is fulfilled to the highest quality possible. Additionally, I am a one-person business and do not have any workers. With that being said, If I have something in stock I will ship it immediately,

Q: How does local pick up work?

A: You may select local pickup at checkout and I will contact you when you order is ready.

Q: Are there any other items available sooner if I need a gift?

A: At all times I have  finished items in my inventory. If I have an item you want on hand I will be able to ship it within a week. I may also have items in mid-production, which would be available sooner than 4-6 weeks. If you have a genuine, pressing quick-order need, please email or call me directly to ask what’s available. (mountainridgepottery@gmail.com or 425-760-1947).

Q: How much variation can I expect with my order?

A: I’m confident that you will be happy with your pottery as long as you keep a few things in mind. Minor shape, size and color variations as well as minor glaze imperfections should be expected due to the handmade nature of this product. You will also not be receiving the item you see in the photograph so variations should be expected. That is part of the charm of a handmade product! I work hard to match the dimensions and appearance of the pottery you see in the photos.

Q: How durable is the pottery?

A: Pottery is very durable and can last many years of consistent use. Feel free to use it like you would use any other dish, bowl, mug or cup you have in your kitchen.

Q: Do you accept commission orders?

A: Yes I do! All commissioned orders are welcomed. Email or call me with your request.

Q: How much will shipping be?

A: Shipping prices fluctuate depending on where you are shipping to. I have access to discounted shipping and pass these savings on to you. Normally for a single item order you may expect to pay around $10.00 and less for smaller items. If you have a larger order the cost per item will be lower because I pack efficiently and safely. Contact me if you have any questions about shipping.

Q: Do you accept cancellations or returns?

A: Yes and no, cancellations are accepted within 1 week of your order, unless I have already shipped your item(s) then there are no cancellations. Please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to cancel all or part of your order. I do not accept returns due to the high costs of shipping pottery. I also do not accept cancellations for special or custom orders.

Q: What should I do if an item is damaged during shipping?

A: I package all orders with great care. In the rare event your order is damaged during shipping, Send me photos of the item(s) and packaging within 7 days. I will arrange for a replacement or refund.

Q: Do you teach classes?

A: Yes, I teach one on one meaning you will not be in a student based classroom. Instead, you will be taught in the privacy of my studio one on one.  I only take a few students per week. Classes fill up fast so if you're interested contact me directly.
